European Commission appointed Tiina Astola (graduated from VUB in 1983) as the next Director-General for Justice and Consumers
She studied law (LL.B in 1977 and LL.M. in 1983) at the University of Turku as well as at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (LL.M. 1983). In June 2007 she was nominated Permanent Secretary of the Finnish Ministry of Justice.
